Services:Acoustical, Audiovisual and Information Technology
Client:The Phillips Group and Van Nostrand, Vascotto Associates

Cerami and TM Technology Partners, Inc. (TMT) teamed up to provide acoustical, audiovisual and information technology consulting services for Barr Laboratories facilities in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. Cerami's team of acoustical consultants worked closely to survey the existing acoustical conditions and make specifications to ensure that appropriate noise levels and standards of privacy were met.

Our audiovisual team and TMT's IT staff detailed specifications for the numerous spaces in the facility, including divisible training rooms, a sales/marketing room, conference rooms, board rooms and a paging system.

One challenge facing our team of acoustical consultants was an adjacent residence that was affected by the mechanical units on the roof of Barr's facilities. The emergency generator, cooling tower and rooftop units all needed specific treatments, including enclosures, duct silencers and spring isolators to ensure that neither the residence nor those persons working inside Barr's facilities were disturbed by excessive noise transmission.

Cerami's team of audiovisual consultants and the IT team from TMT worked closely inside the space to ensure that the end-users were provided with the most state-of-the-art technology. This included specifying computer and video equipment in the divisible training rooms that could be combined as need be. The sales/marketing room, which would function as an interactive classroom environment, was also detailed to have video presentation technology and audio conference capabilities. Additionally, the entire Barr Laboratories facility was outfitted with a paging system.

TMT's work at Barr included the design, specification, and implementation management of the entire infrastructure for both IT and security. Telco Services entry design and carrier coordination were specified, in addition to main and satellite equipment room racks and cabinet layout, and MEP coordination and inter-room connectivity. The TMT design team made specifications for voice and data backbone, both cooper and fiber, pathways, conduits and cable trays, in addition to the coordination of horizontal category 6 connectivity, outlet and termination hardware. The end-users at Barr required a high level of security, and as such, TMT introduced new surveillance cameras and a monitoring system into the lab that utilized digital video recording technology to screen all activities in and around the area. In addition to the intrusion detection system, alarm notification devices were also installed.
