The link between acoustical, low voltage services and sustainable design has strong implications that extend beyond just selecting green materials. The sustainability of a given facility can be significantly improved by ensuring the design and implementation of low-voltage systems use energy efficient practices including the use of energy star qualified products, integration of lighting and shade control, room occupancy sensors, and GreenGuard certified products.
Cerami also works with the design team to make sure that acoustical concerns such as adequate speech privacy and low noise levels are addressed while simultaneously being able to meet the high-performance demands of sustainability. Together, these two actions will lead to greater comfort for future occupants.
Cerami has had the honor to work on a number of projects that have achieved 'firsts' in LEED standards. Our projects include the Lion House at the Bronx Zoo, designed by FXFowle Architects, which is the first landmark building in NYC to be granted LEED designation, the Palazzo Las Vegas, designed by HKS Hill Glazier Studio, which is the largest LEED certified building in the world, and the Conde Nast building at 4 Times Square, one of the first sustainable commercial buildings, which helped set the standard for Green building design.
