We provided acoustical consulting services relating to the general architectural and mechanical review of the proposed new 655 seat capacity PS/IS at PS 133 in Brooklyn. The project is an L-shaped four-story (with cellar) PS/IS for the School Construction Authority. There was consideration to retaining and renovating the existing school building, which will be part of the design options presented.
Of importance to the school’s construction is meeting the requirements of the Green Schools Guide. As such our LEED experts reviewed the plans and made recommendations for the building’s construction including: solutions to lower background noise levels, reverberation time, sound isolation, window composition, as well as a floating floor for the gymnasium, located above the auditorium, and a floating floor slab and isolated sound barrier ceiling for the music practice rooms, located above the guidance suite and below the science lab.
