Cerami & Associates provided acoustical consultancy for the IS 80 project located in Rockaway Park, New York. This school required particular acoustical treatment because of its proximity to JFK International Airport. Cerami’s team of acoustical engineers completed site surveys, measuring aircraft noise levels and the acoustic performance of the existing windows at BCHS.
From the survey results, Cerami determined that the windows were not acoustically effective and made recommendations for their improvement. We recommended the addition of thicker lites of glass be added to the window, making classroom noise levels more manageable for teachers and students. Surveys were also conducted on the roof of the building and the skylights to ensure that the appropriate noise levels were achieved in all areas of the school.
