Cerami’s acoustical, audiovisual, IT and security consultants were selected to provide design work for two Newark Public Schools on one campus: South Street School serving 500 students grades Pre K-2, and Oliver Street School serving 850 students grades 3-8. The spaces include classrooms, main lobby, teachers’ workroom, nurse’s center, faculty dining room, and distance learning rooms.
Wall boxes for AV connections, pull down screens, and portable stereo systems were installed, and classrooms and conference rooms were equipped with infrastructure for future implementation of projection systems and interactive white boards. An additional media distribution system with wall mounted monitors and control panels was also designed. The detailed AV systems in the distance learning classrooms and auditorium feature a large video screen, two room cameras, a media center, a document camera, ceiling speakers, and a touch panel control system. Each auditorium also has a sound booth, wireless and stage microphones, a customized sound system, and a video projection system with motorized screen.
We also specified the Telco Services entry design, main and satellite equipment room racks, MEP coordination, voice/ date backbone pathways, horizontal category 6 connectivity, and outlet and termination hardware. A new security system includes intrusion detection and alarm notification, surveillance cameras, a digital video recording monitoring system, and an access control system with door hardware specification.
