Cerami & Associates served as the acoustical engineer and the audiovisual systems designer for this massive renovation and addition to Terminal C at Newark International Airport. This project included the design of new international arrivals, customs, and immigration areas. In addition, new passenger arrival and baggage handling areas were built under the existing roadway.

The vast amounts of glass in the terminal area required an innovative acoustical design to ensure that announcements would be audible. Our design included noise and vibration control measures incorporated into the skylight design and the air handling systems. In the baggage handling facilities, we recommended treating the walls and ceilings with sound absorptive materials and vibration isolation mounts.

For the audiovisual design of this project, our work focused on the public address and airport Traffic Information Display Systems. We worked closely with the architect to select the equipment and then select the proper location of this equipment to ensure its effectiveness.
