Cerami & Associates was hired to provide acoustical and audiovisual consulting services for the Hotel & Conference Center at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. The facility is LEED Gold certified.
Our audiovisual team provided design consulting services for several spaces within the Center. In the divisible ballroom and large meeting spaces we ensured flexible design for various uses of the space and seamless integration when the rooms are used independently or combined. This includes projection systems, display sources, speakers, microphones, touch panel controls, and equipment racks. We designed portable projection systems for the medium meeting rooms and a wall mounted flat panel display with computer and video connectivity at a wall plate was provided in the small meeting rooms.
We began our acoustical consulting work by reviewing rooftop construction and rooftop mechanical units for the hotel portion, specifically the acoustical impact on the corridor and guestroom spaces vertically adjacent to proposed equipment and the performance of the proposed rooftop construction and made recommendations to mitigate noise transmission using 3, 4, and 5 star hotel standards for relevant noise criteria for appropriate background levels of noise. We also reviewed and made recommendations for the structural slab and guestroom partitions throughout the facility.
