Work at The Fieldston School included a new 400 seat middle school, new athletic facilities including a gymnasium with swimming pool, indoor courts, and an exercise room along with new outdoor playing field and track, and renovations of existing interiors.

We began by establishing appropriate background noise levels and providing wall and partition construction details to ensure these levels were achieved. Since a number of classrooms overlook athletic fields and play yard area we recommended window upgrades and acoustical tile ceilings that would absorb any excess noise.

Our consultants provided facility-wide infrastructure including voice and data backbone pathways and inter-room connectivity, with standardized AV systems from room to room. Classroom systems included electronic whiteboard systems, video playback, and display with connectivity to classroom computers and that can receive programming provided by the school’s cable TV network.

The schools administrative spaces required close review of adjacencies – the admissions office was located above the ground floor mechanical plant and the Boardroom is adjacent to a cafeteria. We provided slab and wall construction details and vibration isolation to alleviate any potential intrusion. The Boardroom fit-out included projection sources, loudspeakers, and audio and video conferencing systems controlled by a tabletop control panel.

The school’s “public room” is a multipurpose space used for quiet study, or as a presentation hall with a retractable projection screen, audio systems with speech reinforcement and an assistive listening system
