The NYC DOHMH occupies 19 floors at 2 Gotham Center which accommodates 4,000 employees. Cerami provided services for both the base building and the interior fit-out. As the project had a little ‘e’ designation, we provided recommendations for a triple glazed façade to meet the requirements. There were additional base building concerns as the project is located near the elevated subway line so we conducted floor frequency vibration studies.

Interior acoustical design included acoustical ceilings to minimize noise levels in the open plan workspace, selection of glass fronts for private offices to reduce reflective noise, and partition construction, doors, and room finishes for the conference rooms.

The 3rd floor divisible meeting rooms are also used as the Emergency Operations Center and required intensive technology components, with video conferencing linking rooms within the building, as well as remote sites. The systems were designed to enable the room to be quickly reconfigurable from a standard conference room setup into the EOC. Our acoustical team made recommendations for the operable partitions to ensure sound separation and privacy between the spaces when divided as well as the floor finishes in the adjacent hallway to ensure footfall noise did not carry into the rooms.

Additional conference and meeting rooms were fit-out with multimedia presentation systems, flat panel displays, presentation cameras, electronic whiteboards, and audio conference systems. All room equipment is controlled via wireless touch panels.
