Cerami & Associates provided acoustical consulting services for the new Intercontinental Hotel located at Times Square in Manhattan. Our work on the project focused on the meeting rooms, divisible ballroom, guestrooms, and HVAC equipment.

As a luxury brand, Intercontinental Hotels Group has very specific acoustical standards established. Our team worked closely with the design team to meet these requirements. The biggest challenges we faced was impact from the heavily-trafficked Times Square area, and noise and vibration caused by the four subway tracks located directly next to the hotel.

Special attention was paid to the meeting rooms on the lower floors which felt the vibration and noise of the subway lines the most. One of the meeting rooms was located just 12 feet from the running subway and as such we outfitted it with a fully floating floor composed of concrete on springs and acoustic paneling to mitigate noise and vibration transfer.
